Disappointed with gtx590

Thread Starter
My 1st post. Ez on me please.
Picked up the last evga gtx590 at local store last night. Hooked up, installed drivers.....
Play crysis2 with max settings, vsync off. Getting min 90 fps up to 130 fps. But the card is way hot 88*c and 92*c loaded, hotter than my gtx580 loaded about 70*c. And sometimes when I looked at the water or fire, the screen is (dont know how you call it) there are lines across the screen 2 inches apart. It happen for 2,3 seconds and goes away. If I shoot down the water, it will happen.
My gtx580 was perfect, cool and not a single problem, just a little lower fps. Same settings I can get between 70 up to 90 fps easy.
Please lemme know if I can do something to fix the screen problem. Will deal with the heat later. If not, I will have to return the 590 and put the trustworthy 580 back on.
Hopefully my rig is showing in my sig.
Oh, it doesnt show my case. Its corsair 600t white. I have total of 2x200 5x120 fans. I7 oc to 4.3 with 1.25v

You don't even have 120Hz monitors, why would you want to go over 60FPS anyway?

maybe to test the card and see whether it was getting better frame rates than his 580, don't tell me you haven't turned V sync off just to see how powerful your card was..

The 590 has 2 GPU cores, the 580 had 1 and they are basically the same size, so you should expect a temp increase..

I would suggest trying to run the fan at 90 - 100% when gaming and reduce it when idle. That is what I have always done with my cards on stock cooling.

You can also try to rig a fan up below it to blow air directly at the intake fan on the card, this sometimes helps drop temps a few degrees.

80c is a bit warm, but still within reason for that card. 88 - 92c is getting kinda hot...

As far as the lines are concerned, the only thing I could suggest is doing a fresh driver install. Be sure to uninstall the card via device manager, uninstall all nvidia software, and run Driver Sweeper before installing new drivers...

If it persists it is probably related to the heat..

@Smoblikat, what the he!! are you talking about... I get the sarcastic response about the trade, but to offer no help and say he is getting an infraction? Kinda strange...

And the answer to your problem is, that Crysis 2 has really big issues when it comes to dual GPU setups, you would probably get the same problem if your 580 was SLIed with another one, the 590 is 2 cut down 580 on 1 PCB, and is a dual GPU solution, this problem wil be fixed with a game update, or if they haven't released it yet, the next game update, also use the latest drivers, as that is also a common problem, run a burn test with furmark for 12 hours, and run 3Dmark 11 several times to see if the card really is bad. but i honestly think its just the game, have u tried any other games that have the same symptoms? like BFBC2?

The GTX 590 is well known to run slightly hotter than two single GTX 580's - I thought it'd be pretty obvious being that they are both cooled by a single fan (on reference anyway).

Now to OP that sounds like VSync OFF tearing screen..

Have you tried to enable VSync and to shoot at the water..??

As for the temps try to create a custom fan profile in Afterburner to lower the temps (it has worked wonders for my GTX480..)

CHEERS..
