Disappointed with gtx590 - Page 6

If you're only playing at 1080p, and not even gaming that much, a 560Ti would probably more than suffice. I'd go back to the 580.

Good idea, its pricey but it's a really nice card and hard to come by.
Used msiafterburner to get some more from the fan but still close to 90*c (never get to 80*c on 580)

just got a few seconds video on youtube here
hope the link work. If not search for "Gtx 590 and crysis2 screen problem"
IT ONLY HAPPEN ON WATER as far as i know

The 590 got to over 100fps to 130fps all the time (but I really don't see the diff. with my 580 at 80 to 120fps)
For ME, 590 fps more than 580 fps. That's the only good thing from this 590 (I don't see any diff. with my eyes on my 1080 display). Other than that 580 much cooler and no problem at all. If I can fix that screen issue, I might keep the 590 as well, if not I'll return the 590 and put the 580 back. Will mess more with it this weekend.

HOLYCOWE,

I had the same GTX590 from EVGA and I turned it in...those cards are only good and USEFUL at HIGH resolution, higher than 1080P...I was getting all kinds of weird results...with Vsync ON, in some games the card was downclocking, leading to stutter...honestly, those cards are for multi monitor, 3dvision or 2560 X 1600 resolution....

I much happier with my two 560TI..$250 cheaper...and actually, at 1680 x 1050 or 1080P, the 560Tis in SLI are scoring pretty close to the 590 classified in 3Dmarks11

yeah you would only need more power if you were going to play on 3 screens but then you would need a second card and more vram too.

COWE,

Get rig of the Thermaltake TR2-series PSU.....jeez. If you got $$$ to spent, treat your rig well.

Those TR2-series are low-end....

What a complete waste of money. Sorry I just couldn't keep my yapper closed on this one.
There are quite a few games that will eat a 580 alive at 1080p, for instance, ArmA II. So to say that a 590 for 1080p gaming is a waste isn't true.

OP that looks like it might be a driver issue. When I turn AA in ArmA II, all of a sudden all of the edges on all of the grass and trees turn white.

Try uninstalling your drivers, booting to safe mode and running Driver Sweeper (yes I know the new Nvidia drivers to a clean install, but Driver Sweeper to be safe anyway), then reinstall the drivers.

Also try different AA settings. With the last 2 sets of Nvidia drivers I've been getting weird graphical glitches when I turn up AA to max. This happened with my GTX 580 Lightning, and exact same thing with my Lightning Xtreme, so I'm pretty sure it's not the video cards, but a driver issue.
