Does overclocking your cpu help in your opinion or no because thats graphics card mostly?

Physx is USUALLY done through your GPU as using CPU Physx is terrible [option selectable in the nvidia control panel] - overclocking your video card will help some, or buying a cheap dedicated physx card would help as well.

depends what game. Not all games support physx. So if your talking WoW, than OC your cpu would help your fps more, bc WoW doesnt support physx

The thing I noticed tho, is in Mafia 2 if I overclocked my cpu to 4.0ghz my physx on high worked better. I think or was it just speeding up the game so there was less my graphics card had to do on physx at high on mafia 2? Maybe thats what it did.

If the game supports GPU accelerated PhysX (adn you enabled it ofc) then CPU OC won't help much but if it uses CPU PhysX then yes it will

PhysX performance is dependent on shader clocks. That doesnt necessary mean to OC your core clocks on your card, because you can unlink the ratios via MSI afterburner/etc. Boost shader clocks(up the core voltage to make stable) before OC'ing your CPU more, which would increase FPS due to brute force.

It matters what you set the PhysX configuration to. I recommend setting it to GPU, and then Overclocking the Shader clocks that power the CUDA cores, that essentially power PhysX calculations.

You can also set the PhysX config to force the calculations on your CPU, which means that higher speeds are pretty much better. I think however with your card you would get better performance with the GPU setup...

Mafia II can use its own Physx card to run all of its features. No way one 570 can keep up.

I turn it off entirely. At the moment I don't even have the PhysX drivers installed(thank you for giving me a checkbox, nVidia!), as I believe it to be a gimmick. Besides, it isn't supported by enough of my library to warrant re purposing transistors I can't afford to re purpose.

More and more games keep using Nvidia's physx. Alice Madness Returns uses it and I'm sure the new Batman game will too.
