any reason not to get a u2711H?

Hey OCN
There is now a 20% off the U2711H in my country, after seeing an IPS-panel in use I have wanted to get one for myself.

I would mainly watch movies, game and some photoshopping.

I mainly game RTS, am I right in assuming the higher resolution will show more units/map?

I would have no problem turning down some settings for the extra resolution...

Is there any reason I should not get this monitor?
I am currently gaming on a sammy p2350, and I noticed a huge difference compared to my friends zr24w frown.gif

I have heard the HP equivalent is better for gaming, but plenty of people here seem to like the U2711H. At that price, I'd probably buy it myself.

As you know its a great monitor. I have zero issues with mine but some people hate the heavy anti-glare coating. Unfortunately, RTS games will NOT show more units/territory. Its to keep online games fair. The main HQ in Company of Heroes is bigger than my fist. Movies will upscale from 1080p. It has slightly higher input lag than fast TN monitors, I don't notice but some people don't like it.

Thats all the cons I can think of. I highly recommend this display, the high rez is addicting.

There is no HP 27" equivalent. You are thinking of the 30 inchers, the HP has less input lag than the Dell. Apple Cinema Display is the 27" main competition. It has no built in scaler so the input lag is similar to the HP 30".

I really can't think of anything to complain about with mine. Some people don't like the AG coating (I love it personally but I do a lot of image editing).

If the price is right I say, let your 6950 flex a little bit! You'll be hard pressed to go back to 1080p afterwards. biggrin.gif

Only reason you wouldn't get this is if you couldn't afford it.

The apple cinema display and the U2711 are the same panels but a few differences that change them up kinda a lot. The bad part about U2711 is some think the AG coating is too harsh and the input lag is too high. The apple fixes these but is the complete opposite. It's a glass screen so u have reflection and less input lag but no scaler. IMO neither are superior to eachother. It's all about preference

Edit: The apple display needs a mini displayport. It has no other ports.

U2711 have extreme coating and have too small pixel pitch 0.233mm, cause very difficoult to text reading and cause eyestrain.
dont buy this monitor, and dont think to comment by some user, they are only dell fanboy.
