And saying that "it isn't hot" isn't worth anything as your CPU might be burning without your heatsink getting hot if the heat isn't being transferred properly (as a result of your dry paste, perhaps). I'm not saying it's the cause, but it's gonna be trouble down the road.
That's what I thought too. Maybe with all of your programs installed and running, your CPU is being ran under just enough of a load to cause your rig to shut down due to heat. I would replace the TIM on the CPU and the HSF....make sure to use Isopropyl alcohol to clean all of the old stuff off completely before you apply new. Read this link page and see the accepted "correct" way to apply TIM.

Applied new TIM in pea method after wiping away old with alcohol, still shutdown... And I'm fairly sure sitting at desktop around 63-66 Degrees Celsius is still pretty bad?

Now HW Monitor says its sitting around 56-58 degrees... How can My Processor go down 10 degrees, when im not even doing anything...?

So, doing the pea method. You should take the HSF off again after you have locked it down, wait 5-10 minutes then take it off again. This way you can check to see if the TIM is spreading out over the cpu properly. If it isn't then you will need to use more TIM for your solution where-as others may not. If you want accurate info, the best place to look at your CPU temp is in the BIOS.

Well, I'm not too concerned about my current TIM, i'm planning to purchase another heatsink/fan... Probably an antec from bestbuy (Yes i know QQ but antec is my case brand, and bestbuy is the closest place to me that sells hsf's)

The good news is , that I THINK that its no longer shutting down... Thing is I say that and then it does lol... Atleast thats what has been happening over the last few days...

EDIT: the new heatsink/fan should keep my rig running until around next year when I make the upgrade into an AMD 6 core... DDR3s

1) You're overheating if your CPU temps are hitting 80-90*C. Fix that by reseating your cooler, and reapplying a proper amount of thermal grease.

2) Safe mode works, fresh install works, installation of AMD / ATI Drivers...you crash.

Sounds to me like your crashing problem is GPU or PSU related. CoolerMaster PSU's aren't that great, and your GPU (HD4890) is pretty power hungry. If that's an older PSU, that could be the problem. Or it could just be a hardware problem with your GPU too.

Well I have seen it shoot into the 90's at startup... So it must be doing that whenever I do something intensive...

I have reseated the fan and applied thermal grease, that's why I thought it's working now, its as if its cursed. It Shut down literally seconds after I made that post... I figured if I was able to have my computer on all day downloading/installing starcraft and starcraft 2 that it was fine... I get on just now to install sc2 and it shuts down again! ((

I am going to buy a new heatsink/fan because the top left pin doesnt go in... It's bad for my computer and am going to fix it... But I don't think anymore that this is the problem... Operating in safe mode is still semi intensive at start up kinda? I mean wont the temperatures be around what they are normally???

Also it was crashing with or without the drivers, i thought it was them, but i was wrong I have more than enough power for the computer, its been running since summer of 2009, its not like my gpu all of a sudden needs more power lol.

I have ruled out Virus, anything related to windows or what was on my hard drive... RAM, and I'm hopefully about to solve or rule out the CPU heat...

Something interesting that I noticed... Was that... I have 3 hard drives you see... two of them at 500gb and run in Raid0... the third is a seagate 250gb from my old computer I use to record video files so that it doesnt slow my game down as much... I no longer can see the hard drive in windows, despite it being empty and connected to my mobo...

INTRESTING.... I was just in Safe mode installing sc2 there while posting on overclock... And it shut down... Which means.... Well I don't know actually lol.

Could it really be the CPU overheating and my computer shutting itself down to protect it??? I mean I dont feel any heat coming off it... I have very good airflow in my case... and I put new thermal grease not that dried crap just yesterday... I realise that one pin is broken on the heatsink but is it really hanging off that far??? It feels snug... It just sounds weird to me, how the thing was broken before, with practicly no thermal grease considering it was dried and air pockets everywhere.. and it works fine, now out of the blue it overheats??? Even after i reapply new stuff???

IDK guys, i wish computer problems were obvious lol.

So... If it's shutting down while it's performing strenuos tasks such as installing a game, update to norton, or any other Data intensive thingimagig, its not really my GPU becase none of the things i have been doing when it has shut down are graphically intensive... It doesnt discriminate between safe mode, I'm thinking that the reason why i tend to not shut down in safe mode, is... Well it's safe mode! It's not as hard on the CPU or whatever it is... Then as soon as I install a game, or do any hard task it takes a minute or so to heat up my CPU enough so that it shuts down, that's why it doesnt happen right as I start a process, it happens near the middle right when it gets it hottest?

AM I RITE GUISE??? So buying that heatsink/fan should really fix it... If 1 pin really creates that much distance between the copper contact and the cpu?

I appologize for my 3 posts that could possibly be considered spam lol... I just kinda had an epihany and overcame my denial of possibly having a part overheat in a full tower great air flow case... and I while looking at a hanging pan in my kitchen realised that the top left pin broken prevents just enough contact, that the copper isnt contacting???
