[Metro]Call Of Duty should 'rot from the core' trolls EA boss - Page 7

I agree with iPoop, the call of duty games are the best games I have for pc, and I also own BC2.

For ME, I don’t buy the realistic argument of BF games,

Its sooo realistic . . .
. . . You can't lie down
. . . A sniper round to the body and you're fine
. . . You can’t hold your breath
. . . and for some reason you can’t run sideways ( I know this is a small thing but it really puts me off, it ruins the game as you feel like you are controlling a golf cart not a soldier.

I also don’t like the volume of bullets required to kill, the terrible muzzle climb of the AR's and semi auto snipers not being capable of OHK.

Although I do support DICE in their use of DX11 and newer technologies that COD doesn’t have and I will end up getting both MW3 and BF3 just for the hell of it.

I think that COD games have their niche, and that is fast paced, selfish game play that anyone can play and do quite well.
Whereas BF games are more difficult to get into as you are owned for the first few levels by magnum ammo and the game play is generally slower as the games are team based and have huge maps.
I don’t think COD has anything to worry about really and I don’t know what EA are trying really, they are trying to replace the fast paced “action movie” style experience (that IS popular) with the slower “Real Life” soldier experience (that judging by sales figures is LESS popular).
At the end of the day they occupy different niches and should therefore its FINE to like BOTH.

CoD was the best game you've ever played? You just brought a tear to my eye. It's people like you who halt innovation. Every CoD game since CoD 4 has been exactly the same. In all honesty, the PC crowd is one that likes complexity and challenge; neither of which CoD games have anymore. We like the games to be more than SPAWN. RUN. KILL. DIE. REPEAT. If you played Battlefield like that, no doubt you failed to enjoy it. That's a game that comprises teamwork, stealth, positioning, and command.

Anyways, that's my rant.

It seems we're still not capable of having a decent discussion about a video game..
Maybe next time?

It's not silly it's how business works. High sales does not mean high quality product. Marketing can do a lot, more so than you first think. The fact something sells well can be down to many different reasons, not necessarily because the product is "good" or of high quality.

There's a reason why Activision spent more on marketing MW2 than the actual budget used on it's development. In fact that's the very first I've ever heard of that occurring with any game.

Take a look at Duke Nukem, the game sold very well... yet the game is flawed in so many ways and is considered poor FPS game even by todays standards. Yet most people who bought it got it because of the name 'Duke Nukem' and because of the past games...not because the actual game is good. An example of how a name can sell on it's own and not even have to be up to scratch in terms of quality.

Another analogy that's been floating around: Justin Beiber's music is very popular, but not necessarily critically acclaimed to be a masterpiece. Similar to COD in a way. MANY people who contribute to this mass amount of sales that COD gets, buy the game just because its the popular thing at the time (peer pressure in some cases). Even though that with each new COD game it literally brings nothing new. It actually looks exactly the same +/- discreet lighting and shadowing here and there.

I don't hate COD series. In fact I've clocked over 800 hours on COD 4 myself (more if Steam didn't reset it). It's very enjoyable as well as COD 2 and WaW (less so than COD 4 but still worth mentioning).
The problem is that in recent releases Activision are discreetly abusing their customers by copy and pasting the same thing. That is it's most urgent problem that everyone keeps highlighting and it's a valid point.

When you look at BF3 threads on here (disregarding many troll posts) you'll come across many who point out new features that they're excited to try out, mostly with the new engine - all valid points too.
Yet when looking at MW3 there's not much anyone can say that's been added to the game. Instead things you'd expect to find in DLC's in most other games. So why buy the new release just for the same game? To fit in with what others are playing?

I'm not some diehard BF fan. I've only been playing BF games for the last 4 months. I used to be a diehard COD fan. But with their recent games, its clear that they want to maximize profits in the shortest time possible disregarding if it's the same thing or not. And it's evident by the Copy and Past-age that is clear in their newer releases.

Well, just to highlight COD sales are decreasing on PC. Black Ops sold significantly less compared to MW2 on the PC platform, and if you're going to say that its because Black Ops isn't part of the Modern Warfare series, Black Ops actually sold more copies in it's first week than MW2 did on consoles.

with regards to
  • Horrible accuracy - It's called realism. Bullet falloff also means there's a lot more skill involved. It's nice when "skill" actually means something in an FPS again
  • Slow-moving action - Not sure how you came to this conclusion since there are vehicles. Jet's, cars, quad bikes, tanks - ALL of which you can fully control and not just control the turret with..
  • Small lobby sizes - Either you're playing BFBC2 on Xbox 360 or you haven't actually checked. I've never had problems of small lobby size.

Which reminds me: Looking forward to 64 man games in BF3. Something I haven't done since COD 4.

I was metaphorically speaking to highlight that A LOT of people buy COD games because it's the popular thing, regardless if its the same rehashed game.

P.S just to highlight in terms of marketing and sales; I used to work in Telesales in my student years part-time (I know sucks, but money is money at the time). Motto in Training was every customer should be a Sale! Just depends on you sales pitch. I once sold a satellite tv receiver to an old lady who didn't even own a TV. Proof that with marketing and sales-know how, you can sell anything.

LOL! COD wins for gameplay
COD is just a FPS at this time.
COD 1 was good had gameplay ,COD 2 and COD 4 also had something to say in PC gaming .
But remove the COD name from latest releases and nobody will buy them for what they are.
COD is now something intended for consoles in all aspects.

The gameplay in these 2 games is way to different to compare. BF is all about squad based tactical gameplay.

CoD is all about how many people can i kill whether my team wins or loses as long as i look good.
