Probably around 5k - 6k on my own systems. Building since 2003, I think.

Geez when I sit here and think about it, it just goes up and up lol! Last two rigs were about 3-4k a piece, right about 14-15K in total..thats 5 desktops, a laptop, and all monitors, keyboards, mice, gaming pads etc. over the last few years...glad I dont have to build one every other year even though it is tempting lol!

Well on average I spend about 2k a year now just to keep my other half in her graphic design macs and my gaming rigs up to par, though when I was working in the IT field prior to my current field I was spending closer to 10K a year. and since I started my hobby in the late 80s though not with my own money until I was 14 in 1995. so somewhere the 100K range I suppose.

Easily +7K. I sell parts and buy new ones, though.

1995/96:$3K on a Pentium 133 which was my first computer ever when I was just 5.
1997: $3K on a Pentium II 233 - The Warcraft Computer (lol, enjoyed playing strategy games since young although I recall sucking at it).
1999: $2K on a Pentium III 450MHz system.

Then my family ran into some financial trouble so computers were out of the question for years. This is when my interest in computers started to grow and I wanted to build my first system after so many years.

2003:$1.3K on my P4 system...$750 for 15" Viewsonic LCD monitor.
2004:$1.1K for 19" Sony LCD.
2005:$2.9K for an Athlon X2 4200+ system...(damn AMD for their $750 processor cost, nVidia for a $600 video card, and RAM being $350 for 2GB)
2007:$1.9K for Q6600 system + $350 20" LCD
2008:$3.4K for fully loaded tablet laptop
2009/10:$900 for Q8400 system - $400 on a GTX470 upgrade
2010/2011:$1500 for my current system + $300 23"

Note this is CAD, so prices when the USD was worth more made things quite expensive. Not sure if I should be counting the systems before 2003 as I don't recall having much care for computers back then as a kid, but nonetheless, total would will be >$7K. Anyhow, I've toned down on spending with university tuition taking its toll.
