I had saved up a lot of money over the years and spent it all on my first custom rig and it all summs over 2000$ but I still need a SSD and maybe a new GPU.
The funniest part is that I wasn't saving the money for PC.

This rig (tower and all peripherals) cost around $1800, my wife's was around $1100, and my previous computer (Pentium 4, 1.5GB DDR) was around $600. If I include all of the games I've bought, I should be in the 4-7k range.

On the current sig rig or over time? I may not have a killer sig rig but I've been into computers for about 15 years. I'm probably over $7000 if I take everything into consideration.

tooooooooooooooooooooo much. LAN PC cost me a total of $1,350 when I first built it, main rig has cost me around $2,200 over the years. Add a $1,100 PC for my girlfriend that I built... I'm no longer comfortable talking about this, as I am now guilty and thinking of ethiopian children. Thanks, OP.

I did not spend a lot (like $50-100), because my parents gave me a pc (i don't like it, can't play games) and i have a lot of used pc parts in the basement (70% of them are dead) who my parents and cousins gave me for free.

In the next year or two, i may build a new computer, and I think it will cost at least $1000, plus upgrade it's memory, then graphics so it will cost more over time.

Well...

I built my first PC in late 2007. It was an Intel Q6600 powered gaming PC with 2GB RAM and a single 8800GTS 512 GPU. At the time it cost $1250, including keyboard, mouse, & monitor.

Since then:

Upgrade first rig to 4GB RAM........$100
B-Stock 8800GTS 512 for SLI......$100
500 GB Seagate........................$60
Blu-Ray Burner..........................$125
Thermaltacke CPU Cooler............$25
Zalman 9500 CPU cooler.............$45
Logitech G5 Mouse....................$50
Dell 21.5" 1080p Monitor.............$140

EVGA B-Stock X58 SLI LE............$80
Intel i7 930...............................$290
6GB DDR3 RAM..........................$145
EVGA GTX570 SC.......................$360
WD 1TB Black............................$100
Corsair TX950W.........................$140
Coolermast HAF X......................$200
Custom CPU Watercooling............$250
Corsair P3 64GB SSD...................$150

Misc parts and bits.....................$50

So the grand total comes to: $3660

All in all, not too bad considering that I got 4 solid years out of my first rig before upgrading to my second. My first rig is now my wife's computer, still going strong inside of her damn pink case My wifes 3 year old computer (she payed for it, but I built it) was put into my old case from my first rig and was given to my parents. I expect to get similar life out of my current system. Chances are I will add a second 570 down the road to extend the life of it, but that's probably it for the next few years.

Some components I did sell to save for new stuff. I did that with my second 8800GTS 512. I didn't count any of those savings in the total. Just the prices I payed for the items.

I estimate its between 2-4k for me if not more if I add absolutely everything regarding my PC. Come to think of it, I can check the history page on the only two websites I always buy stuff from.
The grand total is $3648

haha I've been doing this for the last 15 yrs or so so I'm well over 7K. I'm actually surprised I didn't upgrade for the last few yrs..but that's because of my other hobby...3D RC helicopters...now that is an expensive hobby lol
