So the crossfire 6950 gave me almost no performance increase in Crysis... - Page 7

Well you don't need it to run properly if your realistic with your expectations, especially at 1080p and lower. Like Crysis with a modded config for Very High DX9 looks as good as DX10 and runs fine.

Crysis does a pisspoor job at taking advantage of newer hardware, to be honest. They are not the games to be basing your purchases off that this point.

Farcry 2 can take good advantage of it as well. Kind seems like you should have just stuck with 1 card.

Check out 3dmark11 basic just to make sure everything is good. Is your 2500k overclocked at all? That would reflect on your benchmarks as well.

No its stock. Im not sure if I said it before in this topic or my other.

You have to forgive my non-knowledge. The last PC I really gamed on was a Pentium 350MHZ with a Voodoo 3 3000.

You can see that this is a giant leap for me.

I will definitly check out that benchmark program. Also, are there any good guides to follow when overclocking an i5 2500k?

My bios seems to freeze after a few seconds...well the mouse cursor. And it seems like I need to scroll around..... the old bios didn't look like this. Half the time it wont boot to the bios when I tell it to. F8 and all that.

Here's another one:

Just shoot for 4Ghz for now, easy for your cooler for the chip.

Well I cant get into my BIOS. Everytime I boot to the EFI BIOS it freezes. The mouse cursor and I hit all the keys on the board....nothing...

I took out my two MSI cards and put the single XFX back in. Same settings in CCC and Crysis...45 average FPS....

If your bios is freezing you may have a different problem. try to take out one stick of ram at a time, and try for the bios again.

well just took one stick out. The sticks say 1600 MHZ 6GB (3x2GB) on them

Problem is...my computer has two of these in it.

I only have 4 GB of RAM.

My BIOS screen is frozen and says 2048 MB (DDR3 1333MHZ)

Also, is there a way to get around with just the keyboard?

Seems to be fixed. I wasn't using DEL. I was hitting F8 and using the Enter setup command which it didn't want any part of.

Still my memory isn't reading the right clockspeed and that sticker on the RAM saying 6GB concerns me also.

You've got triple channel ram, but you are running a dual-channel MOBO, I'm not sure how this will actually affect your RAM speeds but it might pay to look at a 2x4gb dual channel kit...

Ive read the whole thread but I haven't seen it so far, so correct me if I have misread, but, have you entered into safe mode and ran a driver sweeper for your ATi drivers before installing the new ones? I might be conflicting issues that are causing your GPU woes.

Also, with OCing your 2500k, you should be able to leave everything on auto and just change the multiplier to 40x, but definitely download CPUz 1.57.1 and real temp 3.67 to monitor your overclock.

Im in the BIOS. I had to plug the damn PC in with a VGA cable. HDMI had the BIOS screen blown up BAD.

And yes, I did clean installs with driver sweeper first. Actually Iv done that 2-3 different times.

Im actually playing the game MUCH better with my single XFX 6950 averaging 45 and not dropping below 35. GPU usage always above 95%.

My problem was when the other two cards would stay throttled down. When they throttled up, it was rocking hard.

The only thing I can think of is if you have the power control settings in CCC turn it up to 20% on both cards. Other then that overclock that cpu and see if it helps cool.gif
