Take the Corsair Vengeance since its 1.5V vs. Patriot Viper Xtreme that are 1.65V.

You'd never notice a differance between 1600 MHz or 1866 MHz while gaming tbh. and Sandy Bridge really doesn't like anything above 1.6V.

Good luck.

I think thats hearsay, i've never ran my ram below 1.65v on SB and lately I run it at 1.7v + .

I say go with the vengeance. I use 2x 4GB sticks of 1600, oc'd to 1866, no problems at all.

I know some memory's will run fine on SB @ 1.65, but for my Corsair Dominators which have been running CL7 @ 1.65v on AMD965 and i3 550 yet completely unstable with my i7 2600, would only give me continues bsod and post reboot loop till I configured it to 1333 CL9 @ 1.5v.

I would however always recommend 1.5v kits for SB, not only are lower volts better, but should generate less heat as well.

Could you give me the newegg link to your memory? 1.7 stable for memory on SB is impressive.

the rule of thumb is to stay withing 0.5V of the IMC voltage (1.15V) so 1.65 is the limit. Id personally grab the Patriot and run it @lower voltage

They are these mushkin. They run great even at over 2200mhz. My Super talent ram run terrible on my SB rig unless running at the 1600 strap and more voltage is worse. Yet, I still run them at 1.65v 1700mhz 6-6-6-18.

1.65 is just fine.... Viper Xtreme is tested on SB, and it's rated for 1.65v. I'm sure the guys at patriot have tested the products before sending them out (Sarcasim).

1.6 being the max Ram voltage for SB is not a fact !!! and Throw those intel spreadsheets into trash can. you know better that Those Numbers are always much lower than actual safe numbers ^^ !
My 2133 Kit runs 2200 CL7 stable with 1.7 voltage just fine. surely memory incompatibility isn't the same as memory instability !!
