Water Behind my Droid X's Screen

Thread Starter
I had my Droid X (First generation) sitting in my drawer overnight. I wake up to see a spot of water, behind the glass, covering the lcd. This is extremely strange as it was not exposed to moisture. Whenever I touch the screen, the water spreads (as a result of the pressure from the glass spreading the water) and the pixels, where the water is covering, becomes a blue color. It is extremely annoying, as whenever I touch the screen, the center of my screen becomes a blue color. I tried putting the phone in rice, but it did not remove any of the water. What should I do now?

Maybe if you put it in direct sunlight for a little bit it will help dry it up.

honestly i bet the water got in there from a cracked seal around the phone somewhere...just try and find that...tilt the phone to that side and let it sit for a while...

I can't find any evidence of a cracked seal. I'm going to tilt my phone on its side overnight and see if I can get the water out. I'll be sure to remove the battery

This is getting really bizarre. I go to remove my battery and I notice the water has gone away. I put the battery back in and the water is back. This has something to do with my battery. Do any of you guys have any clue what is going on?

not sure what the issue is exactly, but one of the best techniques I've ever heard for drying out electronics (phones, cameras, etc) is to put them in a sealed container surrounded in instant white rice. the rice draws the moisture out of the air, and your phone.

does it look like water? or is it kind of white and gel like?

capacitive screens are very prone to damage with static electricity or any current really. they are partly made with gel and the gel has electromagnetic components...the battery might cause the screen's gel to shift a bit...but this seems very extreme

a more plausible explanation would be that the battery is pressing the glass to the lcd making the water visible

When I put pressure on the battery compartment the "water" spot moves around. This actually isn't a water spot. It's actually the battery pressing against the LCD. When I looked at the battery, the center of the battery was extremely thick compared to the ends of the battery. This is what's causing the problem. I will be going to the Verizon Store to get a new battery and thanks for all your help!
