Alice: Madness Returns - Page 4

post #31 of 53
damn all this talk about pretty graphics makes me wanna buy the game soo bad! gorgeous visuals make me giggle yessir.gif especially since alice has pretty much turned into one damn fine girl.. kinda makes you wanna put her on top of your female video game characters list.. especially with her 'wonderful' personality tongue.gif

all i've been doing is watching the 360 walkthrough on youtube by some guy called Dpsgaming - recommended biggrinsmiley.gif

How's the texture pop-in for the PC version? All the reviews use console footage and don't mention PC. It looks pretty bad in areas for that on console.

It's not bad. It's pretty bland at first because your weapons are absolute garbage. After a little bit it grows on you as said and it's very fun after that.

Now I might have not been paying attention, but only once did I load an area and the textures came late (3 sec) as far as I recall.

I ordered a physical copy direct from EA several days ago.

It's a great game (even though I am only about thirty minutes into it), but the game really needs manual save in some areas. I am also terrible at platforming games, so some sequences are rather tedious after making the wrong move for the umpteenth time...

the game doesn't look hard to run so why do people get such low FPS with great rigs?

Because of physx effects. Also you can turn off the 30 fps cap. Go into \Documents\My Games\Alice Madness Returns\AliceGame\Config
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE to FALSE.

Nvidia owners turning off physx... Fat chance, thats the reason we chose Nvidia over Ati is to get the cool extra special effects. tongue.gif

I have about 4 hours in and I'm only 20% complete. This game is EPIC. I play with an Xbox controller so I can just sit back and take in all the visuals. The combat was tricky at first, but now I LOVE it. The ability to actually dodge an attack with out the luck of the draw is really nice. There is nothing boring about combat. You have a lot of options to be truly good. Not just lucky. I know it runs off of an Unreal Engine, but does anyone know which one? And is this only DX9 on PC? Cause it looks pretty dang good if its only DX9.
