New pc build help

hey guys,
In the summer or towards the end i plan to build a pc that's prime use will be gaming and probably watching a few films and im hoping you can help me with bits the only problem i have is i dont get to match up cpu's with motherboards i believe is something to do with sockets? any way this is what im after.
CPU,
PSU,
Ram,
Motherboard
i think that might be it, cus i have a graphics card that il keep ( xfx radeon hd 5770)
budget is between £300 - £400

Yes socket im guessing your making an AMD rig


What re you going to be using the computer for just making videos and what kinda of games?? and what Computer site do you like to buy off so i can use the site you like

i take it that the cpu does go with the mother board even though the mother board 880g socket and the cpu is 840 ?

the 840 is the CPU name and the 880g is the MB name number is a part of the name Socket AMD3 is the socket type. So yes they will.

i always use newegg.com for reference even if i buy somewhere else. you can sort processors and motherboards by socket, size, everything. in your price range i would try to swing a dual core intel sandy bridge or a quad core AMD.

personally i would go for an 1155 i5. even the dual cores shred.
