New rad or new pump and res?

Hey guys,

I've had the itch to get something new for my loop but I'm undecided as to what I should get...

I currently have the rasa rs360 kit and my load temps for my sig rig are about 55C. Keeping in mind that I might be putting my 580 under water in the future, would I benefit from changing the current rs360 rad to something thicker and adding a 240 rad, or should I get new a new pump ( http://dazmode.com/store/index.php?m...oducts_id=1060) and a tube res?

both options would cost me about $180

I'm tempted to go with the pump and res and sell my current pump/res, keep the rs360 and buy another rad later on when I add the gpu to the loop.

What do you guys think?

I agree with you, buy a new pump now, then add the rad and GPU later on.

Would I see any temp improvements with a new pump? Or would it only benefit me once I add the gpu?

No, I don't think you'd get a temp improvement, but with temps like that, there isn't much that will improve your temps bar a chiller.

You current rads seem to be getting rid of their heat very effectively but will probably suffer adding a GPU to the mix, then adding another rad to that and you have quite a restrictive loop where the pump will probably suffer.

I mean you probably could get away with the XSPC pump for all of that, but personally I'm not a great fan of it.

If you are going to add the GPU, I would just get an RX360 or RX480 RAD. It would be more than sufficient. Even if you added both GPUs it would be sufficient, and if you wanted to you could also use the RS360 you currently have.

Not sure what your fan setup is, but you could get some GTs in push/pull on the RADs and get a little extra cooling.

you got to remember that you have that i5 @ 4.5 i have my i7 @4.9 with 2 overclock gtx 570 in a sig loop my processor tops out a 65 and my cards tops out @45 both depending on the load i have 1 xspc triple rad plus 2 addtion 240 rads so ur temps are not too bad considering that xspc pump is not too great..

I would get a pump and res now, then when you find money to get a GPU block and rad you will have a sufficient pump. Although getting a new pump and res won't give you a noticable temp difference.

yeah i think im gonna go with the pump and res route.

The reason why i was saying to add a 240 rad is that i can easily fit it in my 800D along with the 360 without modding. a 480 would work but id have to cut out part of the top of my case, im not willing to do that quite just yet, i got the case a couple weeks ago lol.

Im waiting to get a reply from someone that makes custom GPU blocks since i dont have a reference design card. Hopefully that wont cost me a small fortune.

alright so i made an order!

decided to go with this pump.. im gonna run it at 12V for now and when i add the gpu and whatever else i feel like watercooling, ill get the voltage controller and bump it up to 24V.

http://dazmode.com/store/index.php?m...oducts_id=1060

this is the res i chose, the UV blue will add to my UV blue tubbing and wiring, also ordered some UV blue sleeving.

http://dazmode.com/store/index.php?m...oducts_id=1165

i should be getting all of this tomorrow or thursday, put it all together over the weekend and ill post some pics. Ill run prime95 tonight for 12 hours and record temps to compare with the new pump, im sure it wont make a difference but id like to see it for myself lol

Now im just waiting to hear back from a guy that can make me a custom GPU block for my Asus GTX 580 DirectCuII, since no one wants to trade me a reference gtx580 i dont have enough reps or posts i guess to put it up on this site

Thanks for the inputs guys!
