6950 vs gtx 560 ti - Page 4

I love my 560Ti's but the 6950 is a beast of a card too. Either would be great, you just need to decide which feature-set you prefer...

Why would the 560 Ti be better for BC2 and BF3? PhysX?

I am pretty much doing this to prepare myself for BF3. My 9800GT currently runs BC2 all high but things can get pretty hot after a while. Just tried Witcher 2 though and it struggles at medium.

Overall getting the impression that the 6950 is the stronger card, plus I can flash up relatively safely cause of the switch..

The 6950 is probably the best choice as it is better for the price/performance and it runs better in a dual gpu setup.

However I think Nvidia has better driver support and makes the best high end graphic cards but they rubbed me the wrong way when they locked up SLI back in the day and I couldn't do a dual Geforce setup on a Intel P45 chipset when Crossfire was supported no problem at all.

as single cards they're pretty much equal.

the 2gb version of the 6950 will help in some vram intensive games, but overall you won't see it pull away with a single monitor setup (unless you're gaming on a 30" 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 screen)

if you can get a hold of a ref 6950 that's unlockable then get it... if not then choose the one that performs best in the games you play

here is a comparison

Well the 6950 2gb doesn't compete with the 560 ti but if you're willing to spend the extra cash its the best option if you're okay with flashing it.
I just found in most reviews that the 560 ti TFII does a bit better than the 6950 1gb in BC2 and has way more oc headroom while being much quieter. The TFII doesn't cost any more than the reference cards...

It's really close so it doesn't really matter which one you go with, I just wanted to try Nvidia after my 4890 cf sucking.

would it not be better to compare the 6950 (unlocked) to a GTX 570 rather than a 560ti?

From what I understood before making the decision between the 2 was a GTX 560ti is a mid range card and a 6950 is higher end of the market?

I'd pick a 6850 toxic for that resolution, but if you intend to buy one of these on title only, it'll last you like 5 years or so
I checked reviews before and it seems 560ti performs better than 6950 1gb at lower resolutions, but the 6950 is better at 1080 and up, but nothing significant really...
