Which droid to get?

Thread Starter
I know nothing about the different models. Looking at Verizon's current offerings, the X2 looks pretty good to me. It's dual-core and has hdmi out, which are both a plus. But I'm also reading about the Bionic and it's supposed to have lapdock connectivity right? That would be awesome, I just dont know if its worth the wait. Anyone know when that will release?

I've never owned a smartphone, so if I'm going to get one I want to get the most out of it as possible. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I don't know if you can choose any Android , but if so , I would take HTC Sensation.

http://www.htc.com/europe/product/sensation/overview.html

I currently own an HTC Desire , it's superb.

One of my friends has HTC Sensation , and he said that he loves it. But , if not looking at friend , just on reviews and others things I find , I would still take HTC Sensation , not even Iphone 5 when it comes out.

Well , I think HTC Sensation will give you what smart-phones can give , and even more.

I would wait a little longer until they start releasing the phones that are dual core and 4g. the x2 is dual core but it isn't 4g.

Yeah I am switching from at&t to verizon so my fiancee and I can be on the same plan. I guess waiting for dual-core and 4G would be a good idea; I don't have 4G where I am now, but in the next year or so I could be moving if I find a new job so it could be worth the wait as I plan on keeping this phone a while. Thanks yall.

I have The Droid X2 & the Thunderbolt. obviously the Droid X2 is dual core but missing 4G. I find 3G to be plenty fast honestly so it wasnt really a big deal to me. I love both phones but in all honestly I really love my Thunderbolt more then my X2. Even tho its a Single Core it does have 4G and I cant put this phone down at all. It has pretty good battery life its not as bad as some people say. I find it to be about on par with my X2 as for battery.

I dont have 4G coverage in my area right now so I disabled the 4G. I am more satisfied with my Thunderbolt then I am my Droid X & I know people are going to be like your crazy lala but ive played with both phones & I really like the HTC way better. the widgets, Skins, Smoothness of the OS & Clarity of sound & calls is just better on the "TB"

Thats just my opinion. i would

A: Wait for Dual Core with 4G
B: Grab a Single core with 4G now

Honestly in my opinion my single core "TB" even using 3G is fast so I could imagine what 4G will do. The OS on my "TB" like I said compared to my X2 is noticably smoother.

Ok, lets start out by asking what you expect to use your phone for. Most people can get by with ease with the single cores and save a fair bit of money in the process. It could be a perfectly valid option for you imo.

Secondly, what do you want in a phone? What do you want it to do? Its a similar question to above but slightly different.

I want to have the ability to:
  • Play/stream music and video
  • Web browse
  • SSH to my server
  • HDMI out to a TV would be nice
  • Lapdock would be a huge plus
  • Play some games
  • Run any other apps smoothly that I may find

I really think I will just wait though until something with all those options (dual-core, 4G, lapdock) becomes available. I've gotten by so far with my "dumbphone" so its not that big of a deal. Thanks.

Droid x2 pretty much fits all that, just doesn't have 4g, so if you can deal without 4g until you get a new phone then I would say go with that.
