Corsair TX650 V2, thoughts?

Hey there.

I just read through the Phaedrus' thread and now I'm worrying if my PSU will be adequate to run the following setup mining 24/7:

Phenom II X3 720BE @ stock clocks
2x 6950 hopefully unlocked and overclocked to around 1GHz.
One HDD
Watercooling loop for the GPUs (two blocks, one pump, one 360rad)

The thing that got me worrying was the "multiply by 1.5". To me 650W seems enough but would I be stressing the PSU too much. Should I just change the order and get a TX750 V2?

Multiply by 1.5 is for dedicated folding rigs ONLY. It said so clearly.

If mining isn't familiar to you it is something like folding, only I won't be doing it with my CPU. GPUs will be at 100% load at all times. Maybe I should've stated this more clearly in the first place. Thank you.

Discussion of mining is disallowed. Call it a distributed computing project.

You won't be in immediate danger, but you will be running your PSU a little hard, at constant ~70% load maybe.

I did not know that. But thanks, I think I'm going to swap the PSU to TX750 V2 or even a 850W one.. Are the V2s as good as the original TX series were?

v2s are slightly better. Replacing your PSU isn't a top priority by any means, but I would put it on your to-do list.

Oh the parts haven't been shipped yet. I can easily change the PSU to 850W one.

FYI the Yate Loon fans in the GS600/700/800 and TX650/750/850 are louder than the Adda fans that Corsair used previously, so if quietness is an issue I'd look elsewhere.

I totally agree, more noise than I care for.
