ON TOPIC: Even though you just cleared the CMOS, take a look in the bios for the actual lane speeds. There's normally an option that decides the speed of each lane - it might have been dropped down to x2 because of incorrect settings.

Also, like someone above suggested, try running a game and check the link speed again.

all good on the 3rd slot, guess my mobo needs an appointment with Mr. RMA
Just when you think that things can't get worse: my previous card evga gtx 460 got RMAd a week after purchase due to high temp-got another one, a month later the WD HDD failed smart- got another one, then RAM failed- another month to get new one from Taiwan, now mobo...
well my new SB CPU/mobo is in the mail...


very strange- I moved the card back to the upper slot and now it shows x8, CPU-Z shows: Link Width x8, Max Supported x16
