Best IPS Monitor for Casual Gaming/Movies - Page 4

Seems like Dell U2311H is the answer here.

I am in the market for gaming/movies IPS monitor too, but there really isnt much to choose from.

Maybe some of the Eizo monitors are worth checking out.

Are there any new ultrasharps coming out anytime soon in the 22-24" range from dell/hp/ etc.. preferably with a LG panel since they seem to be the best.

They are revamping the 22-24" ultrasharps with LED backlighting. And, yes, they use LG panels.

If you want a 27" with no anti-glare coating, buy an older model iMac on clearance for around $1200. It's the same panel as the U2711h except it is glass and LED backlit, and standard gamut.

Seriously though, I like my U2311h very much. I might buy a couple more once they come out with the new models.

It seems 8ms-to 16ms is common nowadays for IPS? (not positive if thats a Grey to Grey spec or Black to White to Black spec).

Has anybody had some recent experience with gaming on an IPS monitor? I'm looking to get either three 22-24" for a surround setup, or just one 27-30" one.

Can anybody offer some advice as to which IPS monitors these days are performing close to TN panels with respect to response times.

3 22-24 or a 27-30" one eh?

Previously i had 3x U2311H in eyefinity.
Now i have a Single U3011 (2 of the 23's in portrait on the side for desktop use)

Eyefinity was cool but in the end the video card demand was too great for my liking and when it didnt work i was just on a single 23"

The 30" was a noticable upgrade in quality over the 23 and 2560x1600 is pretty damn nice too. The 30 has more input lag then the 23 but i dont really notice it so overally im very happy with the switch to the single larger (better) display

I bought LG E2370V recently and it's really good. At first, input lag was noticable, but with Thru Mode its just as quick as my TN. No ghosting, no backlight bleed. Colors are great too obviously. Only real downside is the stand and lack of pivot, althought it isnt an issue for me. smile.gif

I think its simply a better choice than U2311H, especially if you play mainly fps games and more or less professionally (by that i mean competitive and you're a hardcore gamer)
well but whit aggressive coating by usually LG rolleyes.gif
post #40 of 41
What exactly is that aggressive coating? I know its sort of anti-glare layer, but it distorts colors or what?
