$800 i5 2500k build

Thread Starter
Case: CM 690 II Advanced for 75 dollars @ microcenter (w/ 20% off case coupon)

CPU: i5 2500k for 179

MOBO: ASUS P8P67 PRO for 125 (w/ combo + 25 dollars off coupon)

GPU: MSI GTX 460 Hawk Talon for 181.08 (-40 dollar rebate + NEWCUSTOMER10)

HDD: Samsung F3 1 TB for 49.99

CD: Sony Opti-arc for 19.99

RAM: 4 GB Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 (8-8-8-24) for 47.99 (with NEWCUSTOMER10)

PSU: for 119.99 (109 after MIR)

COOLER
: for 29.51 (24.99 @ J&R and at Fry's but I'm lazy)

Total comes out to around 860 dollars - 50 dollars in MIR and around 810 dollars. I've bought most of it except for PSU, Cooler, and RAM. Thoughts? I'm leaving option open for SLI in future, or much more intensive GPU. Also wanted modular psu

That looks great!

Thermal Paste? Arctic MX-2 or MX-4 is great with no cure time. Shin Etsu is one of the best.

Looks very good, that psu is a bit much for a single 460, however in SLI it would be perfect. Everything else looks great

If you're not going SLI that 460 then go for a 500 watt unit. everything else seems solid!

This. But if you're going for SLI in the future then there's no need to change anything.

Thanks for input guys, I am planning on SLI and I wanted a modular PSU. For future reference, anyone know a good 500-550 watt PSU that is modular?

I asked on other page, they said the thermal paste w/ the cooler was fine? Should I just buy one?

One of these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...rder=BESTMATCH

The stock paste actually is pretty good presuming you get the Thermalfusion 400 with it. Arctic MX-2/4 is still an excellent alternative though.
