Help! My RASA 750 Exploded!!! - Page 11

So strange. I've had that res/pump combo for almost a year now and never had a single problem. I've been using the batch of water too and don't have a spec of discoloration like that (I will be cleaning my loop in a week or so though, it's about overdue haha).

fell sorry for your incident.
either pump turned back on you due to bad luck or it is something that got sucked in it and destroyed it.
That water surely looks like something that should not be in there. Like rust is being flushed out of somewhere.

you say the pump was smoking for 30 mins afterwards?

no clue what happened exactly obviously, but I'd say a pump short-circuit or something like that lead to the whole thing overheating or even burning... maybe the insulation wasn't 100% waterproof? All the colored stuff is probably (melted) parts/lube/plastics from inside the pump

but what I don't understand then is how the PSU didn't shutdown ? it should have some short circuit protection AFAIK ...

I think we don't need a chemist but an electrician to comment on this case...

Yes, the pump was smoking for a long while after I removed it from the tower.
The PSU did shut down. It was around the same time the explosion, but since I wasnt in the room I dont know if it happened before or after. The CPU is working fine, so Im pretty confident the thermal protection kicked in to save it.

It really looks like some kind of short-circuit. I emailed XSPC, so I want to wait until I get in contact with them before I go ahead and open up the pump to investigate.

have you started the rma process? Send them the pictures and there shouldnt be any problems. From what I understand they are quick to replace pumps.

XSPC responded within a couple of hours:

"Hi, Henry

Sorry to hear about this. : (

We don't know what that could have happened since we don't know the situation details, like coolant, extral parts, etc. But we will send you a replacement asap.

Pls send me your address and tel no.

Best Regards
Dazhong"

I replied back with pics and the info he requested. It's amazing they are willing to replace it with no questions asked.

Now time to crack this reservoir open and see what really happened.
