How do I overclock with my board without using AMD OD

Topic..

I can get to a multi of 18.5(3700mhz) with a voltage of 1.475 and keep it stable, but looking at everyone elses numbers, my voltage to mhz ratio seems a bit lacking.

When attempting to edit the settings in BIOS, only CPU Ratio and NB frequency will actually let me select them to change the settings.

CPU Ratio is retarded, I turned it to 21 for a 4.2ghz to see if it would boot, and discovered after a failed boot that turning it to 21.00x also raised my voltage to 1.6+!

How can I edit this thing through the bios with my board?

Turn off any power saving features, and any automatic voltage control features. With my 1090t I found sometimes that after a failed boot the board would reset to some pretty wacky settings.

I actually had the same board as you (asus m4a79xtd evo), and obviously you have found the OC settings in Jumper Free Configuration. Since you have a black edition cpu, I recommend just touching the...
cpu multiplier
cpu voltage
cpu/nb frequency
cpu/nb voltage

Instead of letting the board automatically edit the voltage, do it manually. Remember not to go over 1.5v on the CPU and 1.35v is usually good for the CPU/NB. For example, when running my 965 BE, I ran the following settings...
cpu multi- x20
cpu volt- 1.465v
cpu/nb freq- 2600MHz
cpu/nb volt- 1.35v

EDIT: Here is a really good guide to overclocking the Phenom II cpu. While it uses a slightly older chip, the principles are the same. The thing to remember when following the guide is that you have a black edition, so just touch the multi and also, in order to get the best performance, you need to up your cpu/nb freq in relation to your cpu freq.

Thanks so much, glad to know you know what Im dealing with.

My problem is that inside jumper free configuration, I can only acces CPU Ratio and NB Frequency. If I hit any button on the keyboard with any other option highlighted, nothing.
