Completely confused: Installing Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

This is probably the most confusing cooler i've ever had to deal with. My brother wanted a cheap but effective cooler, so I bought him the Freezer 7 Pro rev. 2 for his Athlon II 245.

Ok, now I'm trying to install it on to his GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P but it looks like the AMD mount and the cooler are mismatched ....

X4jiA.jpg

***?

The socket mount is like this on these AM3 motherboards, issue is that the fan is suppose to face the RAM slots ... so how the hell does that work when the fan screw "fins" are perpendicular O.o?

arctic-cooling-freezer-7_11161.jpg

I don't want to return it and lose 5% to restocking fee.

Help?

Cheers,
deltatux

Are you positive there are no other included mounting brackets or the likes?

If not just run it with the fan sitting by the north bridge ( the thing that says Gigabyte on it) blowing up to the top of the case.

His chip shouldn't produce that much heat so even if there is no top exhaust in his case it still should run fine given there is some kind of fan near the back of the case in the first place.

Yea, check if they included any special screws or brackets to mount it with. A lot of aftermarket coolers will.

The only bracket mount it has is the Intel one... he wants to OC the chip so I'm trying to not blow the heat on to the PSU region (PSU is top mount not at the bottom).

Do you guys think the Intel bracket would fit on an AM3 board or there's no way in hell to?

I'm very surprised in how poorly executed this is since the fan should have been designed to go either pull from front to back (fan on right to left) or push to the back from the front (fan on left from right) as illustrated in the installation diagram.

You'll want to get some heatsinks on your mosfets beside the cpu socket also if your going to overclock. I cut up an old cpu heatsink to make one for mine and it works great:D

you can not install it side to side, unless you use these brackets http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233060
... and the intel 775 mounting system for the heatsink

Sorry for being off topic.

He's not going to do insane overclocks to warrant MOSFET coolers.

Any ideas on the orientation of the cooler or am I forced to install it with the fan facing down?
