Completely confused: Installing Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 - Page 4

Alright, I'll take your suggestion as it's been suggested. Though I've seen a video or two showing the fan facing the Northbridge that's why I'm asking.

If it doesn't work, then I'll just remount the fan, just got some new paste so i can redo if need be.

Cheers and thanks guys,

yeah unless you can afford this bracket http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233060 as long as the screws will fit in it...which would be the only problem unless someone can verify that the version 2 will mount successfully to those brackets.

It was my understanding AC sold the Freezer 7 for Intel and the Freezer 64 for AMD. I bought my Freezer 7 a few years ago, and it works well. You should always do research before buying any part...

Edit: Ah, no 64 on newegg anymore and the Rev2 claims to work with AM2. In that case, I'd say that's pretty dumb...

I don't think I can find any AMD to Intel 775 adapters nearby.

Just let it run pointed up. Even if the psu ingests the warmed air it will be able to function. Your brother just can't expect to oc his rig.

But the main thing: it's an inexpensive rig designed to get him a computer, no more. So don't put any more money into it. He should save his money to get a decent rig when he can afford it - after he does thorough research.

And you, too: save your money. Use it for useful things.

Ok, so I just remembered that this fan sucks in air with the fan, not push hot air out. Doesn't that mean I'll be pushing hot air to my Northbridge if the fan is facing up?

So I think it'll be better to mount the fan facing the Northbridge so the hot air will be pushed to the PSU?

As for the brackets, the shipping costs as much as those brackets and I can't find them locally so it makes no sense.

As for ditching the rig, not happening any time soon due to budgetary reasons and the motherboard can fit quad and hexacores as well. I will replace the fan if my brother upgrades.

Thanks,
deltatux

it may be cheapie, but I was able to install my old 775 intel heatsink(Mascool) on AMD, and rotate it (side to side).

Ah screw it, I'm just gonna test it with the fan facing the Northbridge since the fan pushes air to the back of the cooler. I rather it push the hot air into the PSU.

Thanks anyways,

you have 2 choices.
- send it back and buy something with better mounting system
- install it, either way you want

3 possible placements!

1- Get the adapter, and have it blowing out the back. (Best)
2-Mount it so the fan blows up towards the PSU. (2nd best)
3-Mount the fan so it blows down, into your case. (Bad idea)

Your choice!
