Yeah, that sounds like a really bad idea.. You want it to be big enough so it sits at the bottom of the res and never moves. Small metal things floating near a pump sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I've used that same pump and am now using a 355 with a kill coil, neither pump was strong enough to move, let alone lift a kill coil. How yours did is beyond me.

You'd be fine using it again just like Duckie said though, you can bend it to a larger diameter so it doesn't actually get into the pump.

haha, the size and shape are essential to not get sucked into a pump.

also I would be more worried about it floating. 99.99% silver DOES NOT FLOAT

That's why I placed my kill coil in the return line right before the res. Just made sure it was still loopy and not straightened out. Works perfect with a drop of pt nuke. Sorry to hear about your loss
