looking for hi-end headphones - Page 3

Dt990-600's are commonly recommended as one of the best gaming headphones. It's a rare breed with huge sound stage and great bass. I just can't get used to having something on my head rather than just using speakers. To each their own i guess.

Best gaming headphones:
k701 or q701 (absolutely no bass, very boring sound, sound stage too large)

Dt880/990 - 600 (very comfortable compared to other headphones- 800's have less bass, 990's have more and larger sound stage)

AD700 (budget buy, huge sound stage and king of comfort, although it has no bass and lacks in sound quality compared to higher end headphones)

D2000's (Closed headphone but still has large sound stage, some people have problems with quality control on a certain screw that tends to fall out, large bass)

I would personally recommend the D2000's or DT990/600's

I Also vote dt990/600! for the price at the moment they are very tough to beat, impressive soundstage, great bass for head phones, and crisp sounding. They're fun to listen to, especially fo electronic music (dubstep) and metal. Oh and when i play BFBC2 it's like a second sense of vision, yes the sound stage helped (me atleast) that much

Those req a headphone amp a strong one to get the most out of them. As they not easy to drive headphones. Using them unamp would be a wasted for them too as they do not sound right when their not amped. I edited my orginal post since I saw the op already made his choice.

@op The Hifi man EF2 is a dac/amp when you use the usb part of it. Also you may want to start rolling tubes to find the sound signature you like. Also bewarn I seen the EF2 having a few issues with static when I checked on it before I got my Fiio E9.

@rally I wouldn't say most don't, there quite a alot of people that do like them. Just prolly not on OCN. I Love my AKG 702's which are 701's with a detachable cable and I like them for their sound signature besides their sound stage.

@chinesekiwi i'm currently running them through jetaudio plus with lossless files, then to my AGD NFB-12 DAC/amp combo which has plenty of driving power for any set of phones. However i am looking into getting a decent ube amp for them. but you are right! on board sound especially for the dt990/600 sucks.

Most don't like the K701? My personal love for them aside...

the AKG K 701s are the best-sounding headphones I've heard—and not for the money, and not for picking apart a recording or playing gotcha! with recording engineers. The K 701s just flat-out sound more like music as I hear it than any other headphones I've ever heard. - Wes Philips

Pioneer HDJ-10000G

Or the HDJ-2000s. It beats the living snot out any pair of cans. Great build quality not that plastic crap that brakes.
