Makes for entertaining reading. the first few pages. Uncle Erik, whose opinion I respect very well, nails it first page. Uncle Erik speaks a lot of truth at times.

It sounds unnatural - especially in the mids. To make it worse, AKG discontinued the fine K-501 and K-1000 and gave us this turkey as a "replacement."

The reason the K-701 is so overrated is because AKG priced it below the other "flagship" headphones, making it attractive to the first-time audiophiles seeking the cheapest top-of-the-line headphone. So we end up with a lot of people who buy the K-701 and it is genuinely better than anything else they've heard. Unfortunately, they've never heard the top shelf headphones from other manufacturers or compared the K-701 to something like a K-501.
Those who like the K701 just haven't heard others in the price range really. All the haters typically have (including me). Don't get me started on the K701 / K702 fanboism on Head-fi.

+1 for the D2000's. The neutral tone makes makes it extremely versatile, and at the same time it doesn't make any compromises. I almost crapped my pants when I heard them through an amp.

sound is incredibly subjective, and one man's tinny noise is another man's aural pleasure.
Try them out before buying

The thing about that is, you dont know that. Just like there are those who like you who have and dislike the headphones. There are others who also have and liked them.

Sure the HFI-780s wasnt in the same price range as the AKGs. But I had them last before I got the AKG 702s. Me liking them doesnt mean I havent heard any thing else thats near it price range.

I just like their sound signature and have a different opinion on them just like every one else does. if the DT880 was the same price I paid for the AKGs and had a detachable cable. I would had got them instead.

Could you rewrite that so people can understand? The run on is also confusing me. Also, why are you angry at someone else's opinion when you're trying to defend your own?
