What is happening with my HDD?

I bought Western Digital Caviar Black last year and until recently it was running fine. It was blazingly fast and quiet. Its idle temp was 35°C and was ruuning quiet too. Now about for one month, its idle temperature is 40°C and sometimes hits 44°C. It became quite noisy too. I reboot my PC once a week. Is something wrong with my HDD?

Age, I would back it up and check on a RMA, WD is really easy to deal with.

It was bought in 2010. I was using it only for six months overall and it's too old?

Some things will fail before they're supposed to, that's what a nice warranty is for.

CrystalDiskInfo shows that health status is Good. Is this a reliable program?
Is 40+°C critical for HDD?

I noticed that you are running Caviar 1.5TB drives. Are they running on the same temps as thy were running on the first day?

I believe it's 50 where you need to start worrying.
But with the noise and sudden change I would see what WD has to say regarding a RMA, send them an email.

No it wasn't sudden change, I can say for sure it was gradual change. I was always monitoring my HDD with CrystalDiskInfo and about month ago its temps began crawling towards 40 and more.
As for RMA, in my country WD doesn't have any official retailer nor its representatives. I bought my HDD on amazon.com

Then just make sure your important data is backed up
The drive may not fail you can't really know for sure

What kind of noise is it making, because if its like a grinding noise, then you might wanna back up info and wait for the worst. And check your smart data and see if you got any reallocating sectors, or anything out of the ordinary.
