Over clock Q9650 - Page 3

Well then yeah I would agree you have a great setup, and it definately beats my 750i, since you would have to hit over 505 fsb to get that, but my computer is 3 years old and p45's were not out then so I don't feel bad. You should get your second 5870 soon they are one of the best gpu's right now for the price even with the 6000 series out.

Okay for the original question, your northbridge is weird it looks like it only accepts watercooling, Though I still see people somehow fitting heatsinks on your motherboard, I think its just a real tight fit. If you do find that you do have room to replace it i reccomend this website for choosing, the spire with the golf ball looking ridges are amazing.

for memory this looks like the nicest deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226199 for 99.99, its ddr3 2133 at cas latency 9, I am sure you could bring it down to 1800 and push to cas 8 and run a 2:1 core ratio with fsb at 450*9=4.05ghz with some decent cooling no problem, And if you do hit closer to 4.5ghz this obviously can be clocked to 2000+ so you can still keep that 2:1 dram/fsb ratio.

Thread Starter
Okay so i have the Striker NSE not the extreme, not a huge diff except the striker has hand picked NB chips which can get up to 2000 fsb, mine can do 1600(rated on OC). Now i dont know if this was a smart thing but went into the bios and just did a 20% oc (which was an option 5-10-15-20) and everything seems stable, my cpu is running 3.6 ghz (stock 3.0) and the FSB is increased from 1333 to 1600, with nb temp running constant 66C and cpu underload is 65C(planning on getting a cooler) these temps okay? now with that i should be able to buy 1600 4gb sticks of ddr3 ram and run it correct?

this is the cpu cooler i plan on getting, unless there is a better one for about same price http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=55951
