MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III 2gb VS Asus HD6950 DCII 2gb?

Just looking for a bit of advice. Should be able to buy a card tomorrow and I think i've got it down to this pair.
Asus HD6950 DCII
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121431
and
MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127575

same stream pros, the MSI is a bit faster, at 850 rather than 810; guess that doesnt matter since the cards may be OC'able. same price point, as well.
Thought Id get some feedback from folks that have or currently own either card.

thanks in advance

I don't own either, but I am kinda partial to Asus. The stock clocks shouldn't matter too much.

TF3:
- Unlockable
- Slimmer 2 slot design (better if you plan on CF)
- Cheaper

DCU2:
- Great cooler
- Possibly better components

I'd get the TF3.

Hmm, and for another 30 bucks, MSI's 6970 is for sale at Egg...

so if clock speed really isnt much to consider, what about stream pro's? 1408 vs 1536. is it worth the extra $$?

Hriolla888, yeah, ordering a CH V tomorrow.

how much cooler does the DCU2 run? wasnt planning on a full WC loop, thinking just a block for the cpu, maybe a H70, so temps are a concern.

Unlocking a 6950 means you get those extra shaders for free. The TF3 is unlockable so no need to pay the extra 30 buks for the 6970.

now, you're just talking about unlocking the shaders only, not flashing the entire bios to 6970, ya?

Yes. A shaders unlock + overclock is a safer option than flashing with a 6970 BIOS and you still get the same performance.

The 3 slot DCU2 is arguably the best pre-installed aftermarket cooler available atm, but the Twin Frozr 3 isn't far behind.

Either way your temps will be great, but considering TF3 is dual slot, I'd lean towards it personally.
