Speedpads!

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a speedpad for gaming so I can use a small glass table I have. I saw the Razer and Belkin nostromo ones but I was wondering what other ones where around which where good value for money.

Thanks

The Razer one is pretty much the newest version of the Belkin one. You can also find the Belkin n52te, which has the older firmware and a few less options than the Razer version. Razer bought/acquired the license for the n52's so they added a few more options as far as macros go.

I use the Belkin one which actually uses the Razer software. This one:

Woo.com actually had an awesome deal a while back for one at on;y $34.99. That's basically half the cost, so I had to jump on it. I suggest looking for that one, since the extras that the Razer branded one offers aren't that big of a deal, IMO.

I'm running the razer nostromo and love it. Great feel and programmablity to it.
My only gripe with it is the joystick/thumbpad. the plastic gets slick, could be positioned a hair better, and if you roll from forward, through diagonal to side, then try to roll back to forward, sometimes it stops working and you have to let go and push it again.

Yeah these are the two I have been looking at. Does anyone know of any good alternatives. I have seen the Logitech gamepad and the saitek cyborg command unit also

I've never used either of those, but the Logitech ones looks uncomfortable to me. The n52 has an adjustable palm rest, and the key layout, including the nicely placed thumb button are superb IMO.

It might be best if you could go to a store that had them on display so you could get an idea of what they feel like on your hand.
