It will.

It would help to know your exact motherboard so I know if you're running SATA1 or SATA2, but I would imagine it's SATA2. Worst case scenario is you would be changing a jumper on the drive to make it SATA1 if your mobo doesn't have SATA2.

Why are you buying an enterprise drive out of curiosity? You can get much more storage for the buck.

Either of these drives would get you double the space for the same price.

Thanks for the suggestion, my motherboard is ECS G31T-M7 1.0, not sure if its SATA1 OR STATA2

I just picked that harddrive cuz it has gotten good reviews. Its only 500gb but i have a 1TB external HD also. I think i will get that 1TB WB Black you linked tho

Not true. It has higher sequential speeds, but worse access times. Blacks come out faster, although many people don't know that because they can't read the graphs...

F3's are far cheaper. If you're buying based on performance per dollar, F3's are the way to go.

It's worth noting that RE drives have error recovery times lowered or turned off to ensure drives don't drop out of arrays. This is bad if you're running them as single drives.

that's the older, slower Black model. The WD1002FAEX is the only one that's really any faster than the F3 - and that's $10 more, which is $10 wasted if it's only for sequential usage.

F3's are on sale in the US for $50 all the time. I've never seen WD 1TB Blacks come close - except during last year's Black Friday sale.

Samsung doesn't seem to care about Canada, though. They're almost never on sale here... WD 1TB Blacks are usually priced cheaper when sales come around.

Why not try out a Seagate 2TB Barracuda? That thing cost only 80 bucks against 60-70 dollar 500gb-1tb drives

IF you're all about write speeds, then go for the Samsung
although it'd be great to have tons of room for storage
