Soundcard or integrated audio for 5.1 speakers?

Sorry I'm sure there are hundreds of threads like this around, but I just ordered Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers and I can't decide whether to buy an Asus Xonar DG 5.1 sound card or just stick with 7.1 motherboard (Asus m4n75td) audio?

Is there a significant difference in quality with a sound card?
Can I make proper use of surround sound in games and music using the mobo's sound, or do I need a sound card for features like EAX and CMSS? Are these features worth having?

Many thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry about EAX. It's a dying tech, and non-creative cards emulate it for the most part.

Those speakers aren't super high-end or anything, but you probably would see a difference with the Xonar. You would see an even greater difference if you got a decent set of cans.

I say get the card.

as said above your system is not very good
yet it's not very rubbish so yes they will benift from any sound card you might get
And the DG is very good , has a built-in headphone AMP a thing helps with any headset to be used in the future
So yes go for the DG
