Up for an upgrade soon

Before we start anything:
I WILL NOT PURCHASE AN IPHONE.

Okay so on the 28th of this month I am eligible for an upgrade and am currently contemplating the current phone options. I am looking for a droid device and am currently leaning drastically toward the Droid X2, with an optimised kernel and an expanded battery it would be the same thickness and have twice the battery life of my current phone. However I'm uncertain if at the point in time I become eligible for my upgrade if it would be better to just get the Droid X2 or stick it out with my HTC Imagio winmo pos for a couple more months and wait for something kal-el based?

Also, if theres a Dual/Quad core 4g (lte) android phone around the corner please mention it because I would probably wait it out for that. My mistake last time was that I bought this phone just because it came out before the first Motorola Droid.

Verizon customer with sim-card enabled phone service for further information.

Getting a dual-core LTE device is not yet possible as of now, due to the processors not compatible with 4G radio. However, the Droid Bionic's TI OMAP processor (as opposed to Nvidia Tegra 2) should be able to address this problem. However, we've only seen pics of the device in question and whether or not it will be released during the summer is still a matter of guesswork.

Kal-El devices are further into the development pipeline, so expect devices with the architecture to hit shelves later on Fall 2011. That's a long ways away, and it seems you are already in need of a brand new phone. I suggest you get a phone today or at least wait for the Bionic, and skip Tegra 3 altogether. If your city is 4G supported, then I could see you gunning for the HTC Thunderbolt or Samsung Droid Charge. If you don't need this capability yet, a Droid X2 will fit the bill.

Thanks, my city has "spotty" 4g, with full 3g coverage, mostly due to the fact that we are on an island in the puget sound, we have 4g all around us from the larger cities, but no 4g radio has been installed locally yet, depending on where someone with a 4g phone is they either have 5 bars of 3g or 2 bars of 4g. I'll probably opt for the Droid X2, I would really like the snappier internet especially since I tether my phone with my laptop from time to time, but I think I can probably live without it for now =\\

It seems you were implying that even Kal-El devices wouldn't have the 4g radio issue sorted out, is this the case currently?

Also, yeah I could use a new phone 528mhz single core windows mobile with a cracked screen is kinda painful ^^

I think the issue is only on Tegra 2, and should be addressed in Kal-El Tegra 3 and beyond.
