Random freezes and blackscreens

Thread Starter
Hello community,
I have succesfully OC-ed my intel i7 950 to 4.0 GHz.
It worked fine untill a couple of days ago.
Since then my pc randomly freezes or goes black while I'm playing games like cod and portal 2, not when playing e.g. minecraft
I don't get it since I use all of the latest drivers and my temps are under the 60 degrees mark.
Even on the stock speeds the pc crashes just as it did OC-ed
Memtest doesnt give an error, and HDAT2 gives an SECURITY: FROZEN 'error'.
I dont know what to test else.
Will a new install help maybe?

I hope you can help me!

Check your psu with a multimeter maybe?

I had similar problems a few weeks ago. Overclocked and fail safe defaults it would randomly freeze/restart etc. Tried everything to no avail. Then i realised i had some out of date audio drivers. Once i installed the new ones it was fine, no more restarts etc. Then a few days later my psu died lol. I think in my case it was a combination of old audio driver and dieing psu.

Please try not to bump the thread only after a couple hours, be patient and help will come

Anyways have you try clearing the CMOS? It could be hardward related or even software related? Did you install anything prior to this happening? Is it a fresh os?

Sounds like power supply, since you said you only get issue during game and it happens at stock speed.

Either bad video card or power supply is my guess.

It's not a fresh os, not at all.
I'm getting my ssd's wednesday, so I'll make a fresh one on those.

No strange software installed, only some games via steam. I am very well protected to virus attacks (kaspersky IS) so I don't think it's a virus. Hitman Pro and malwarebytes also didn't report any virus infections.

Sorry for the shameless bump, but I'm really desperate...

Trying clear cmos right now.

UPDATE: Nope still crashes after clear cmos...
