Complete Security

Thread Starter
Hey fellow members, here's the problem.

I've been threatened by this petty little boy who apparently is going to hack me and destroy my computer.

Now just to make sure he doesn't what would you suggest I do to make sure he has no way of getting into my PC, no there are no backdoors and such.

I have already pushed my antivirus, web virus, mail virus and firewall to the max, I am using an IP address hider, I have enabled MAC address filtering on my router, and I have also set a stronger WPA2 key which consists of both letters and numbers.

Do you have any other suggestions for keeping my network and PC safe?
Thanks for any contributions.

Password on your router has been changed? You have a difficult password on your computer? Log all incoming IP traffic pings, find one that is his, and DDoS him.

Yes the password on the router has been changed, and ill change and increase the password length on my PC, and I shall indeed log all incoming traffic, thanks

Sounds like an empty threat but one can never be too sure. If you honestly feel there is a real threat, tell the FBI. Sad truth is they are the one that deal with these things daily and it is not beyond belief that a child can do something to your computer.

You also need to change the passwords on any of your emails, banking websites, the works. You need to do this after making sure there are no key loggers existing on your pc. Try doing it from a browser using private or stealth mode and check the browser proxy settings and make sure NONE are set.

Empty threat.

I would move on with your life.

Also, there is no 'IP hider'. You may use a proxy, etc, but there always must be an address to ultimately receive your traffic on. Keep in mind a lot of 'ip changer/hider' applications are actually trojans.

MAC filtering is next to useless but a longer WPA2 key is never a bad thing, keep in mind these only apply to people that are within your wireless range.

I was under the impression that mac filtering is not a bad security block, how is it next to useless? I wouldn't of thought it was that easy to pass without having access to mac address within the allowed list?

ifconfig wlan0 down
macchanger -m xx:xx:Xx:Xx:xx:Xx
ifconfig wlan0 up

I now am using your MAC address.
Also, when sniffing wireless AP's it's senselessly easy to see which ones are already authenticated. The fact that traffic is Tx/Rx tells you the MAC is a part of the white list.
