Shipping a computer with a Noctua NH-D14?

Mmm, I'm wondering if shipping a computer with a Noctua NH-D14 is possible without breaking anything? I would be selling it, not shipping it to myself so the heat-sink would need to stay attached.

There's no way I would risk it. Motherboards can take more stress than many realize, but shipping companies are pretty rough with packages. I've seen it first hand when I had to go pick up a package at a main hub once. They get slammed onto conveyor belts constantly.. and sometimes dropped.

An option may be to stuff the inside with something like crumpled paper or peanuts. Make everything snug.

Maybe buy something like an h70 and sell the d14 locally?

Take it out and put it somewhere aside. Maybe put it in a box and wedge it up in the bottomfront of the chassis.

No way should you ship a D14 mounted..

Mmm, I see. That sounds terrible. Are there "gentile" shipping companies? lol. Perhaps registered + insurance is a little better? Mmm.

Tis' a good idea but the computer needs to be operable out of the box, etc.

If there's no way to do it safely with an NH-D14, is there another good CPU cooler for an i5 2500K that is lighter perhaps? Maybe even an H70 would be a good idea? That'd be pretty light and cooler than the D14 wouldn't it?

Yeah, I'm thinking that. The H70 would be much lighter and also cooler, yes?

All right, thanks.

So, it sounds like an H70 is the best idea here. Can I send that with water, etc., in it safely? It's completely sealed. I don't want it leaking and damaging things.

You'll be fine with the H70.

It will be lighter but the D14 beats the H70 by quite a bit.

Ah, I see. Will the H80 / H100 be much better?
