I know. Shaders are most important. then, comes memory bandwith, and core clock.

Besides if your on a tight budget, and have a 4870, why not get a second. I have 4870 still in one of my rigs with a 955be cpu-it does great. And as cheap as they are now-wont loose much in future if you upgrade to a better card or cards.

See now you get why I want CrossfireX! They're freaking Cheap, and awesome cards! Even though yeah, they may run hot as hell, but their performance is freaking amazing. I'm going to see If my friend has another one on hand.

If you absolutely must buy now, then go intel. If you can cope with waiting, then hold on a few more weeks for some BD benchies, and then decide.

the architecture is the most important thing ... then clock speed ... the rest doesnt matter much ... the amount of shader doesnt mean a thing if its not backed by a good architecture ... and after that comes software support ...

I honestly say don't replace them until Nvidia or AMD Comes out with something that is MUCH better than a HD 4870.

Dude, why don't you get off that IDE HD? I just got off of mine, happily. Everything is much faster on your HD, so I honestly say spend 30-40$ for a new SATA II Or SATA III HD. - and Spend some Money and Get Off the Integrated Graphics too, and spend some more money on another 2GB's of RAM.
