Father inlaw build.

Thread Starter
So i need to build my father in law a decent little PC for around 500-600 bucks.
This will need to include win7 cpu, mobo, case, psu, mem and a video card.

Now the thing is he mostly just surfs the web, listens to music and watches youtube videos. He gets the urge to play a game every now and then usualy some sort of hunting sim or racing sim.

I have kinda been looking at an i3 sandy bridge. The lineup is here

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=20573207

If that works. With combo deals the price drops to $526.
Critic help or just shred this setup. Thanks.

No need for dedicated graphics IMO. Unless he has a specific need for them intel hd graphics are more than adequate.. 1080p playback is completely doable.

could save you a fair bit of money.

You could also check out the AMD e350 apus, they combo them with mobos in mini itx form factor with the cpu/mobo only like 100-120. they are perfectly fine for web browsing and email as well, if you really want to go cheap on it. I personally would go i3 2100 but it's another option.

edit: "gets urge to play occasional game"

I suppose that video card is worthwhile, then.

as others have said, earthwatts 380!

That is WAY too much PSU. Save cash with this Antec 380W. Otherwise, looks pretty good, though I'm no expert on AMD GPU.

I agree that the PSU is overkill. You could save some money there.
