Dell has got to be kidding me - Page 6

just buy the case and do all the upgrades your self. I mean if you REALLY want the Alienware you could also spec it out as cheap as possible and leave room to upgrade the memory and storage and video cards your self.

I remember i spent $2,600 on my DELL XPS M1210 laptop I was one of those people that knew about computers but bought an expensive one anyway lol

Someone I know bought an alienware for £1800 ( $2 900) quite recently. It had an i7-920 and AMD Radeon 6870.It also used "physics" to cool itself.
Also, the i7 was OCd to 6GHz

I didnt know what to say to them, worst thing was they claimed it was faster than my sig rig.

Oh just a note, prepare to be scared beyond your wildest imaginations. Dell is not the only company that does this.

Liek omg no wai brah.
Somebody could hit me over the head with a club for ten years, and I still wouldn't get used to it.

How i got to start building my own pc's started with my old Dell 531 desktop. The 8600gt gpu crapped out, so i called tech support to diagnose the problem. Unfortunately, it was out of warranty already and Dell charged me $80 to diagnose the problem with a phone tech support rep.

It was quite daunting at first. opening up a pc for the first time. The rep guided me to take the gpu out and replace it. He insisted that i had to order the replacement gpu from Dell, as any other gpus will not work on the pc. So i go on the "Dell forums" and ask around. their moderators all said the same thing. "gotta buy from Dell, because only "Dell" proprietary parts will work. WHAT A BUNCH OF EFFIN' LIARS! Even their so called "open" forums are monitored.

I had a hard time believing this was so. I did some research and completely rebuilt the pc with aftermarket components from newegg and ebay. then took pics of the newly rebuilt Dell pc and posted it all over their forums. http://en.community.dell.com/support....aspx#19761459

Even though Dell is a local company of ours here in Austin, I now refuse to buy any dell product, as their integrity is worth nothing but horsepoo. I refuse to buy anything from a company who pay and monitor their representatives to LIE to their customers. Not only do they lie, their pc's are incredibly overpriced and overrated.

It was a great learning experience, and I've now built approx 12 pcs for friends, colleagues, and of course my own!

as for laptops....... I like Sager.

I've dealt with Dell warranty claims countless times, for work and for private customers. Never really had a problem to be honest.

I think the Dell service we get in the UK/Europe must be of a higher standard that the US Dell support!

If I was building a computer for a customer and found that they'd pay that much, heck yes I'd charge them that much. The rest of us get bare ram/drives and upgrade on our own.
