Advice Needed: Sli GTX 580 3GB or GTX 590 - Page 7

Don't you think it'd be better to pick a 2TB hard drive for storage? 1TB really isn't enough if he's gonna keep everything there, including music, games, files, pictures, etc.

Also, for Tri-SLI GTX 580, uhm, I'd feel safer if he did pick up the 1200W PSU, 850 doesn't sounds enough for that.

Couple dollars cheaper with a Corsair 600T

In that case, wouldn't it be better to grab two GTX 590's?
No, not at all. 3GB is the way to go, especially in Surround and 3D. Here's the link again to my thread that was referenced earlier.

1200W is fairly necessary for 3x GTX580's. Whether it be the Antec HCP-1200 or the Corsair AX1200. Here's a link to my thread when I was testing Tri-SLi with my HX1000

Normally, I love having a ton of space. I left room in the build for a SSD, and whatever drives he wanted. I just through the 1TB drive in there so he'd have something for reference basically. The 1TB would honestly be just fine for anything he'd want to use it for. But an SSD would be faster. And having a little more actual storage space wouldn't hurt either.

I could always rebuild that with 2x GTX580's, and see what I come up with.

Also, I said an 850w for 2x GTX580's, not 3. That's why my list has a 1200w PSU in it. I'm almost positive it would run fine off a good 1000w though.

How does NF200 save that board from having 8x/8x/4x PCIe lanes? That's what the specs list showed on newegg at least. (Talking about the Asus Revo P67 vs. the M4E).

Ok let's see...

Case: Corsair 600T $150
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k $315USD
Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 16GB Kit (4x4GB) $180
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION $260
GPU: 3x ZOTAC GTX 580 3GB $1620USD
SSD: Corsair Performance 3 256GB SSD $484
Storage HDD: Western Digital WD2002FAEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s $150
Power Supply Unit: Corsair AX1200 1200W $280USD (I'd use this if you go for Tri-SLI,a s well as for future proof)
CPU Cooling: Corsair H70 $105 (You can't go wrong with this. Watercooling without maintenance and a great performance)
Fans for the H70: 2x Scythe SY1225SL12H 120mm "Slipstream" $18 (It's for push/pull with the H70, to keep the CPU cool).
Blu-Ray burner: Lite-On Internal Blu-ray Burner with 3D PlaybackiHBS212 $130

This is much more expensive than the budget listed by Pio, change what you want except the GPU's, motherboard, CPU cooling, case, fans, Blu-Ray burner (since he asked for one) and PSU.

Saving grace? It's the key feature, and the fact that I'm not paying for junk I'd never use. The only feature that I'd maybe miss is the fullcover block. Also, the revo has the best slot layout and the proof is the fact that it's the only board that can actually do quadfire. The M4E and UD7 have stupid slot layout, ie. kills the ability to do quadfire.

Lol, about 5 answers to my question before I could even post.

I'm guessing just going with two 3GB 580s would be more than enough for 2560x1600?

While that's an absolutely solid list for a dream machine....he said his budget was $2750. That's why I skimped on drives and cooling on my list.
