This. I've got the same sort of itch as you, but I want to wait until Bulldozer. I'm an equal opportunities guy and while I know ATM SB blows everything out of the water, I REALLY want to try out an AMD chip. I'd say just sit on your AMD till BD or IB.

Go for it, you wont regret it, besides when ivy bridge comes out, it will be more expensive anyway, the p67 sandy bridge cpu's will suite you really good.
