Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti Monitor Problem

Thread Starter
I got a GV-N560OC-1GI about 2 weeks ago and it's been doing good, but I've been seeing in games lately this past week while I'm playing a game my monitor will go into power saving mode, or my computer will freeze. It doesn't happen in every game though, it happened today in APB for the first time (never happened before and I played APB a lot), Shadowrun (first time I played it with my gtx 560 ti). My only guesses is that it's either

1. Psu related
2. It's not connected properly
3. Driver related
4. Bad card

I doubt it's my PC itself since I had a HD 5770 before and it worked perfectly.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Like I said, it has to be GPU related since it worked perfectly fine for almost a year with my HD 5770.

Your problem sounds like your 560 ti can't handle its factory OC, or maybe its overheating. Install MSI afterburner (if you haven't yet) and run it to monitor its temp (should be no more than 80c when maxed if all is well), and also use it to lower the clock down to 822 (stock 560 ti) to see if that stops the problem. If it does, look into getting that card replaced.

I'm pretty sure actual Reference clocks for 560ti's is 822C.Although yes MSI uses a base clock of 880C. OP should try 822C first and see what happens.

Test the card at its factory settings in OCCT and if it errors, send it back for a replacement.

Also, try running at reference GTX 560 Ti clock speeds and if that fixes the problem, you still need to send back that video card.

It has factory setting of 900mhz, I have not OC'd it at all yet since I haven't purchased my new games yet. I'll try downclocking it, but I'll test it more on APB and such, since it only crashed once, but it happened 3 times in a row a few days ago. My temperature never goes beyong 65c on load.

Does it ever crash in other games? It could just be driver/game related.

If you can, test it with either Metro 2033 or Bad Company 2, they are pretty good GPU stressers.

You could also try rolling back drivers to 270.61 and see if that helps.

It doesn't happen in S4 league, but it does occasionally happen in Aion where the game just crashes, but not often at all.

Just the game crashes, not the drivers?

Try rolling back to 270.61 or 266.58. As you said it was working fine two weeks ago, but maybe you did a driver update that isn't playing nice. You can also try downclocking.. If downclocking fixes it I think your best choice is to RMA it for a better functioning video card.

Aion runs on a really old 2004 engine (it is CryEngine, but still) so it isn't too good at stressing your GPU.. You really need to run a game like Metro 2033 or run a free program like OCCT to root out this problem.
