Thinking of getting the nvidia geforce gt 430 - Page 2

As long as you aren't expecting to max out most games, then on your resolution you'll probably be happy if you're just looking for an upgrade. Just don't touch anti-aliasing, filtering, keep the bloom effects off, texture at mid on most high end games, etc etc etc...

Source games should run perfectly also.

I have one of these cards here, it aint no gaming card thats for sure.
But if your willing to lower everything alot then go for it.

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

Edit: this card isnt even good enough to max out physx with my 580, but thats with my 580.

Spend the extra $30 and get a damn 5670 so you can join the rest of us here in the future. Its roughly 3x as powerful and can max out games at 1280*1024.

Never upgrade to the lowest end card on the market. Especially not for gaming.

dude playing BF3 on low VS playing most games on low settings is a whole other matter. you will want as much video power as you can get to enjoy a game like that.

what is you budget absolute max? also take into consideration your PSU is rather low wattage for most high end video cards..

I would consider one of these:
Nvidia 460 (might get away with not upgrading psu)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121390

AMD 6670 (no need to upgrade psu) cheap route.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161375

Note: I would NOT get the 5670 with GDDR3 make sure if you go that route get the GDDR5 one.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-871-_-Product
or the 1GB GDDR5
