Q6600 overlock help?

Thread Starter
Hey, I'm new to the world of overclocking, having recently done an extremely low budget upgrade to make my pc play games more decently.
I want to overclock my 2.4ghz intel q6600 core 2 quad, so I purchased a compatable motherboard, the abit fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI.

Now here's where the issues are:
I've overclocked it to 3.0ghz, where I want to be, and after a day of trying, I finally got it to run prime for over 4 hours, followed immideatly by 5 passes of intelburntest.
I finally thought I had it solved, so I went to play GTA 4 - bang! Crash in about 20 minutes! The bluescreen error was 0x00000e I think, along those lines.

This is with 1333 FSB, 800mhz RAM (unlinked), 1.4v vcore, 1.80 ram voltage, CPU VTT 1.28v and NB 1.43v.
Any ideas? My highest recorded temp during my stress test was 79c but I don't think it's that, my temps during prime are a lot lower than that.

It would seem nothing I try can stop the game from bluescreening, it's most popular choice of error being "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".
I appriciate any help you guys can give, and I know my hardware is dated, but my budget is very low.
Thanks guys

Something is screwing with you interrupt requests, i,e possibly DMA or memory related.

Offhand what videocard do you have?

Lower your ram speed and sync it the FSB.

Choose "Blend" on Prime 95

1.43v NB is too high for 333fsb, you could drop that and will not affect stability. BTW 79c is way too much. What cooler are you using?

I'll try that when i get home today, I always use blend on prime.
So should I link the RAM to the FSB and then chose "sync" under the ratio? I think that's the only way I can do it, if I recall, linking the two means I can't change the RAM, however I havnt tried with it set to "sync".

And my card is an XFX GTX 260 Black Edition, overclocked to 725mhz, it's NEVER been an issue before.

My cooler is an Artic Cooling Extreme.
I'm getting water a week today, and what would you suggest instead of 1.43?

Keep your NB voltage at stock first, only bump it up at higher fsb speeds (400 or so). BTW, what vid is your Q6600?

I can't help with your particular problem but I'm sure these guys can, but PM me once you get things sorted for some overclocking talk

BTW it is a good idea to list out your system specs in the 'User CP' area, so people know what gear you are using
