My Q9550 overclock

Thread Starter
I know these chips are old news, but I still enjoy playing around with mine. recently I built a CPU loop for it. Thus, I've started playing with my clock speeds a bit. I now know which voltage I need more of (spp), and next to add to the loop is a set of motherboard blocks.

just thought I'd share. I'm rather proud

That's great OC but a bittoo much on the Vcore for my taste..

I keep my Vcore under 1.40V for a 45nm CPU..

Also I would recommend you to test it with a P95 Large FFT for at least 6hrs as that test is for FSB stability..

CHEERS..

This board has a stupid amount of Vdroop. when I put a load on that 1.448v, it drops to about 1.378. but now I got it down further after dropping the clock a bit more.

idle's at 1.4v, then it's well below that under load (where I had just screenshot from)

thats pretty good and with a better gfx card will be playing the latest titles for some time. I envy you my q6700 is junk and runs well over recommenced temps even with good cooling and hours of work and trial and error.

Very nice indeed. If she runs the way you want, the Vcore is a mute point with a cheap antiquated quad.

I still have an e8400 that is stable at 4.25 (500x8.5) with 1.43 vcore on air. Several (more like 6 or 7) years ago I was told that the chip wouldn't last a week by some folks on here much smarter than I. It's still running great. I used the chip and another crappy p5q board to make a gaming rig for my godson. I know he still beats the piss out of it with COD.

Guidelines are great starting points. But no means are they golden rules to live by. As long as your power is clean, I wouldn't worry.

If it makes you feel better, my Vcore is at 1.41 on my q9650 for quite some time.

Cheers mate,
Mike

That's good for 790i but that's some crazy VCore IMO. Is it stable?

don't believe everything you read on the net. Like when someone claims they had their cpu for 6 or 7 years for example...
