Trusty Old 4850 is dying. Need upgrade help

Basically, i need a new card. System im using is still my sig rig. I have about $250 to spend for a new psu along with a new video card. I can only game at 1440 x 900 atm. I was thinking of getting a 6850 and a 600w psu. Is this a good choice? My cpu is clocked a 4.2ghz, will the rest of my system bottleneck the 6850?

It ll probably bottleneck a bit, but an E8400 at 4.2 is still very nice, especially for games that aren't quad core optimized. And if you can run a 4850 on your current psu the 6850 will run as well. So maybe pick up a Core 2 Quad and a 6850 if you can get the cpu cheap enough.
Well at that resolution, it shouldn't bottleneck 6850 much, it's not the fastest card out there. However everything should run smooth if your cpu can keep up. And if you were wondering, like 4850, it only has 1x6pin power.

Unless your PSU is failing or just getting too old, I'd do that

6850 has great price/performance, and scales great if you could/would CF

whats wrong with your 4850, just not performing to levels you want?

My 4870 was actually dying, but a good disassemble clean,AS5, oil and reassemble perked it right back up.

See my previous thread.
http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/1044240-need-help.html

It is actually still performing quite well, i finished witcher 2 at some mid-high settings. But as what i said in my previous thread, it suddenly has graphic anomalies for some games (that are not even graphically taxing). No artifacts in furmark and other stress/benchmark tests but has graphic anomalies only in 3dmark06's HDR/SM3.0 Canyon Test.

I believe a 520W is quite enough for a 5850 or a 6850.
