Best chipset motherboard

Thread Starter
Which chipset is the best right now? P67 or Z68? Or should I wait for the next series, perhaps Ivy Bridge?

Also, what motherboard is best for up to two PCI-Ex16 ports. I'm about to build a new rig right now.

Sorry I am looking for an answer on the same question but I know ivy will also be a 1155 socket
Which means the Mobo may also be compatible with Ivy

But Ivy Bridge will have a new chipset. The motherboards now will support Ivy but won't support some of the new features that the new chipset will present.

Z68 is basically a straight upgrade from the P67 series which will likely be phased out. Get a Z68 board.

Some people still prefer a P67 over a Z68 for some reason that I don't know, at least not yet.

Z68 supports IGPs and SSD caching. In actual performance there is no difference.

Is there any disadvantage in using the Z68 over the P67? Anything about the Lucid feature?

So which motherboard could be my best bet in terms of overall performance?

An are the top tier Z68 motherboards capable of using the Virtu feature now with video out? AFAIK, the first set of Z68 Gigabyte motherboards have TV out only on the middle tier models.
