Thermal paste, NH-D14 & 2600k (close up pics)

Noctua NH-D14:

Is this a decent spread that happens when applying thermal paste? I'm going to guess no, but correct me if I'm wrong. I used a rice grain sized amount dead in the middle and what you see is what happens after fitting it. It looks like I've gotten it tightened down enough since it spread to the outer edges, no? Not sure if I need more thermal paste judging from these pictures though.

I overclocked to 4.5ghz and set the voltage to about 1.3 or so. When running Prime95, my temperatures for all cores was getting to 91C So I turned it off and took off the heat sink. What should I do about this now? 90C definitely isn't a good temperature for that overclock speed/voltage considering the cooler.

I'm using the paste that came with the Noctua (NT-H1). I copied these bios settings from some guy, was trying the same setup as him. This is using an ASRock P67 EXTREME4 mobo:

OC Tweaker

CPU CONTROL
CPU Ratio setting - Manual
Max Ratio - 45
Internal PLL overvoltage - disabled
Intel Speedstep Technology - disabled
Turbo Boost Power Limit - Manual
Short Duration Power Limit - 300

Additional Turbo Voltage - auto
Core Current Upeer Limit - 150
Host Clock Override (BCLK) - 100.0
Spread Spectrum - disabled

Voltage Control
Power Savings Mode - Disabled
CPU Core Voltage - Fixed Mode
Fixed Voltage - 1.3xxv
CPU Load Line Calibration - Level 1
DRAM Voltage - 1.5v
PCH Voltage - Auto
CPU PLL Voltage - Auto
VTT Voltage - Auto
VCCSA Voltage - Auto

Advanced tab

Active Processor Cores - All
Hardware Prefetch - Enabled
Adjacent cache line Prefetch - Enabled
CPU C3 State Support - enabled

91C is WAY too hot for that cooler. What am I doing wrong?

A little too much. If it seeps out after compression, you used too much.

When I re-seat it I'll use a little less. What about all the settings in the bios though? There's no way the CPU can get to 91C just from a little too much thermal paste.... at least I think.

yea make sure you have really good case air flow, fill up an empty fan slot or two on your case if available. My case has an optional fan grill right over cpu, after adding the 120mm fan directly over cpu my temps dropped by 7-9c.

I've got three additional fans in my case. One in the back, one on top, and one in the front. I do live in a hot state (gets 100 degrees F easily), but I still don't know if that can push this to 90C. When I was running it at stock I was getting somewhere around 60-65C when using Prime95. That's still too hot for stock with this cooler. I have no idea what's going on.
