Problem with 2 different RAMs

Thread Starter
I was able to get 2 different RAMs for cheap but unfortunately, when combined, they do not work at DDR3 1600, only at 1333.

First one is a G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231427 the second one is a G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231193

Both are at DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800), 9-9-9-24, 1.5V. When plugged in separately, each pair works at 1600. Combined, computer wont boot and adjusts it to 1333. Is there anything that I am missing to make this work at 1600?

some motherboards can only populate 4 slots at lower speeds than they can support if only running 2 slots. please refer to your motherboard manual / specs.

You might want to look at the SPD of each stick using something like CPU tweaker. My bet is that you will find out that they have different subtimings. You will need to manually set the subtimings on your board to the looser of the two.
